Kelsey Choo (she/they) is a Hawai‘i-raised, ADHD, mentally ill, Asian American artist self-publishing comics, zines, and other art in Colorado. A 2013 grad of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she previously lived in Chicago for eight years. She's been making art & residing in east Colorado Springs with her partner & pets since 2017.
Working in a variety of mediums, their comics & illustrative works are inspired by the colors, nature, food, and folklore they were surrounded by in Hawai‘i, their mixed 5th generation East Asian heritage, but mainly monsters & magic.
Kels has been exhibiting since 2014 in local, national, and international comics & zine festivals. In 2019, they partnered with Jennifer Eltringham to organize the first annual Pikes Peak Zine Fest in Colorado Springs, ran it as a virtual event in 2020 + 2021, and finally returned to a full in-person zine fest in 2022. She strives to foster inclusive creative communities in Colorado, Hawai‘i, & the Midwest.
